1.3 Conversation: Career Preparedness

I am Donovan Sellers and I chose the Game Development program. The reason I chose this program to begin with is that I knew some coding and it game very easily to myself. As I continued I understood how the computer thought but I just struggled with he lower logic of the programing. My passion for games drove me to understand it further and my desire to get hired at a good fun game development company.
I aspire to be a lead or director at some of the more innovative and interesting AAA game development companies. I want my degree and the connections I have made to help get me a foot in the door at some of them. It already has gotten me many contacts as well as the knowledge to get myself through the interview process and to make my own games to show off to potential employers.

I am excited for so much. I am excited to work on the games that others will enjoy. I am excited to make money doing something I love. I am just so excited to be able to be out in the workforce in something that has been a big part of my life.

I am absolutely terrified of not finding a job. I am so scared that when I get into my job I'll mess something up and be fired and barred from game development. I am scared that when I get into the industry it will be too much. I am scared it'll make me hate games and I will lose my passion for them.

Yes, I feel like I have been given a lot of tools to succeed. You gave me the assistance to make a good resume and cover letter. I now have the knowledge to pass an interview and get me a job. I have made contacts through this program that will assist me through my job search. I feel ready for it but also just so scared at the same time.

This class can help me improve my resume most of all. I also am hoping that I can get helpful feedback on my portfolio when it is completed.  I am hoping my peers will become future contacts I can assist and assist me when job searching.
